Running for Peace in Iraq

- Running, because we think that sport is friendship and loyalty

- Freely, because we want a freed Iraq

- in Baghdad, because we want that it turns to be again a city of peace

In all the major city all over the world running a marathon is possible. It is a chance to compete fairly and to meet people coming from all over the world,  a festive occasion to stand for peace and human rights.

The idea of running a Marathon in Baghdad was born in Italy, among athlets that want to give a message of peace all over the world, peace operator closed to the Iraqi people since years and Iraqi citizens in Italy that want a better future for their country.

In the past years, the Baghdad Marathon Committee has worked to strenghten the relationship with partners and istitutions to make the marathon feasible and to turn a dream into reality.

The work has been and still is hard, but step by step the Baghdad Marathon is becoming closer...
